Sugaring is the hair removal process that has been around for centuries. It is considered a more natural option than other forms of hair removal, such as shaving and waxing. However, the right aftercare is essential to ensure the best possible results. Here we will discuss some of the steps you need to take after sugaring to avoid any issues or discomfort.
The Do's and Don'ts:
Do's:
- Try and keep your skin hydrated:
Use a water-based, fragrance-free moisturizer every day to hydrate your skin. Make sure you're consuming plenty of water because the more water you consume, the softer and easier it will be for your body hair to emerge. Hydration is one of the most important keys to keeping those pesky hairs from turning in and creating an ingrown lump if you are prone to them.
- Be Consistent:
If you want to gradually notice less hair, space out your sugaring process for three to five weeks. It's fantastic if you merely wish to get sugared for special events, but please be prepared for a slightly less drastic hair loss.
- Make yourself comfortable in your attire:
If you had a body sugaring procedure, you should avoid wearing lace or too-tight dresses for 24 hours after the procedure. Instead, use your soft cotton clothes to soothe your skin.
- Exfoliate:
Begin to exfoliate your skin 48 hours after sugaring to get rid of dead skin cells that could be obstructing the way for new hair to grow through and leading to ingrown hairs.
Don'ts:
- Don't exfoliate the sugared area for at least 48 hours.
Exfoliation works only when done right, don't choose to exfoliate at least for the first 48 hours after sugaring.
- Avoid excessive sweating
Say no to your gym and exercise for the first 24 hours following your sugaring procedure since the friction and perspiration might trigger ingrown hairs or rashes.
- Don't touch it and avoid any kind of friction in the area.
Avoid any kind of contact with the recently sugared region as germs on our hands might lead to diseases. Also, refrain from shaving and tweezing.Β
- Don't splash it.
Avoid swimming pools and hot tubs for at least two days following your sugaring to lessen the risk of bacterial illness.
